		<description>fickleporno
	single-channel video with sound, 2025

Two tangled bodies form and dissipate through shapeshifting faces and hyperreal flesh. What these faces obscure, or revisualize, is a real intimate encounter between the artist and her partner. Recorded only as numerical motion data, the original embodied moment is translated through animation and custom-built AI workflows, combining models trained on the artist’s face and appropriated from online deepfake pornography “communities.” The result is an ambivalent image that reveals everything and nothing at the same time, challenging predictive perception and the desire to see, blurring the boundaries of the embodied human, and reclaiming agency in an age of overexposure, automated voyeurism, and normalized surveillance.
Total runtime: 10 min 38 sec

This piece was developed for presentation at the Sonar+D program in Barcelona, June 2025. It is an interactive webapp that functions as a photobooth, taking pictures of visitors and transforming them into surreal bodies made entirely out of the artist’s face. As in other recent works, the processes under the hood of this project involve custom AI models and workflows, rigorously mis-trained to interpret everything they see as a psychedelic fever dream with only the artist’s face as possible content. It questions both human and machine cravings for the image of the face, and offers an absurd solution to privacy, protecting everyone else’s identity by excessively producing images of the artist’s.

<description>against all odds and gravityvariable video series, 2025

full video, iteration IV
Entangled bodies transformed into churning faces are first animated by motion data captured during a strange pas de deux with a life-size ragdoll, whose movement defies standard and intention. This inconsistent data is translated to animate two faceless digital bodies, while a third digital body inserted into the animation becomes unsure of which motion data it should follow. The resulting figures are both desperate and defiant, hypnotizing and disruptive within a peculiarly tactile space of the screen.
Exhibited at CVPR (curated by Luba Elliott), SCOPE BLN (Berlin), and Resonant Gallery (Grand Rapids).

granular tease, video loop series
limited edition of 12 minted on objkt.com with The Second Guess
Go to the NFT ExhibitionThis series is a commentary on the demands of an image, especially the image of a woman. Drawing on the symbolic genealogy of feminine origin myths—from Botticelli's rendering of Venus’s oceanic birth to the first Photoshop manipulation, Jennifer in Paradise—it reveals a grotesque absurdity inherent in these enduring beachside fantasies.

Created through custom AI processes that remap the artist’s face and movement data, these figures exist between image and embodiment. The artificial attempt to render “woman on a beach” from a field of digital noise results in figures that hover between being and becoming, resisting both the finality of form and the dominance of the visual frame. These fluid femmes are images refusing to do what they’re supposed to.

&#60;img width="2048" height="1536" width_o="2048" height_o="1536" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/f6d568d8a88f054c40240e015a80b8814d191f49316068ede3bee8470ab6093a/bodyofnoise---2.jpeg" data-mid="237154751" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/f6d568d8a88f054c40240e015a80b8814d191f49316068ede3bee8470ab6093a/bodyofnoise---2.jpeg" /&#62;

This performance unravels the human craving for certainty by confronting deterministic technology with the unruliness of noise. The artist’s face and body are live-translated through AR overlays, analog video feedback, and AI reinterpretations: digital distortions bloom over her face, arm movements conjure fluid projections of shifting identities, and photorealistic human avatars—puppeted by the artist and a life-sized dummy—are transformed by bespoke AI models into conglomerations of her face. Through song and spoken word, the work probes the politics of facial recognition, the manipulation of identity in digital spaces, and the paradoxical role of noise—as both a threat and a necessity—in predictive logic and human experience.

This piece incorporates the following software and tools: Touch Designer, Custom Stable Diffusion Machine Learning Models, Meta Spark AR, Unreal Engine, Optitrack Motion Capture with Motive. A custom-made suit and life-sized ragdoll were prepared with markers to enable live motion capture. Avatars were prepared using Meta Human Creator. The music is performed with a live electronic setup of hardware synthesizers, a sequencer, looping and effects pedals.

Cycles shows the body in defiance of philosophies and technologies that insist it be a clear, stable, isolated thing. Contemporary surveillance technology tracks our faces, bodies, and attention, singling us out for automated manipulation and control. In contrast, Cycles resists that totalizing gaze through playful misuses of tools that track and predict the body. These chaotic bodies are the result of a multi-layered process of technological translation, misusing and coercing various body-tracking devices into mesmerizing dysfunction. First, face-detecting augmented reality applications are used on a collection of the artist’s own selfies, face-swapping and rephotographing these images on screens. Then, a custom machine learning model is trained on these distorted faces such that it can produce new faces based on this influence. Another custom ML model is trained to interpret input body images to be constructed out of the faces from the first model. The artist records motion-capture data from a duet performance of herself with a dummy ragdoll and uses this data to animate digital avatars, which then are processed by the ML models.

Using a custom machine learning model trained on a collection of the distorted selfie images I use throughout my work, I generated several new faces. To collage these new faces together, I used computer generated fractal noise, a type of random visual pattern used in digital graphics to simulate natural shapes and motion. Creating layers of these noise patterns, I “cut out” the images and stack them together with a few other simple digital effects, creating fluid-like animations evocative of lava lamps.

Computational processes of all kinds depend on sources of random numbers for their accuracy and efficacy, but computers cannot generate genuine randomness on their own because they work algorithmically. So natural sources are needed. For instance, the digital encryption company, Cloudflare, directs a camera at a wall of lava lamps and measures the image to extract random numbers that make their encryption processes reliable. As a natural being, I too must be essentially indeterminate, though the technologies I interface with daily track my movements and attention in an ongoing attempt to represent and predict me.

digital image collages on fabric, resin

This series borrows its name from a sentence in Donna Haraway's "A Cyborg Manifesto" which considers the crises and possibilities of post-humanism. What new geometries, fluidities, and simultaneities of identity emerge in this fractured, slippery new world? These candy-like, crumpled, and floating wall works lend new materiality to digital images produced through a rigorous misuse of face-swapping apps. The artist's own face becomes unhinged from its bodily origin and is set adrift to mix and mutate with other versions of itself. Settled within the hardened fabric surfaces, they become fixed and yet remain connected to an elsewhere, a gesture towards something not quite graspable, something after, but something other than an ending.
“In the fraying of identities and in the reflexive strategies for constructing them, the possibility opens up for weaving something other than a shroud for the day after the apocalypse that so prophetically ends salvation history.”
Donna Haraway, A Cyborg Manifesto
